Banish Bad Breath – Treatment and Solutions

Public’s Attitude Toward Bad Breath

Our world population is increasing day-by-day, and it is necessary to come into close physical interaction with others on a regular basis. Our appearance and the way we smell is very noticeable to others. Obviously we want others to feel comfortable around us and if you need bad breath treatment others will most certainly not feel comfortable around us.

Personal Experience’s

Someone I and many others worked with, had a great need to banish bad breath. The fellow was not aware of this until it was brought to his attention. His oral problem was so unpleasant, and I knew he needed to banish his bad breath.  We his fellow employees, did our best to limit as much as possible, entering into his personal space.

After about two weeks of enjoying Mr. Need For Bad Breath Treatment at work, one of my fellow employees decided it was time to find a solution to the smell. Mr. Gorilla Breath was quite put out when told he needed to banish his bad breath, and he for sure felt personally offended when confronted about this. We his fellow employees also made the decision to let Mr. Gorilla Breath know his bad breath was not cool. He refused to admit there was any problem and felt we were tag teaming against him.

To get the situation resolved, the supervisor said to the fellow who needed to banish his bad breath, “If you want to continue working here, you will need to find a solution for it.”  The reason why the fellow had this problem was simply because he was always eating foods like onions and garlic.  Needless to say he found a solution.

Usual Reasons For Oral Odors

You may just have occasional bad breath, and so you may not have the need or desire to banish your bad breath.  The foods you eat… such as garlic, onions, and certain spices, can create oral odors temporarily.  This oral problem can be a result of periodontal disease and tarter build-up on your teeth.

More Serious Causes

If we have unpleasant odors, on a persistent ongoing basis, whenever we exhale , this may be indicative of health issues that may need to be dealt with. Germs and plaque on your teeth of a certain type will also be found in tooth decay and in the swelling of your gums. These same types of germs and plaque build up may also exist on your arteries and even in your heart.

Halitosis

The medical field has a name for a medical condition called Halitosis. This basically means ongoing bad breath, and there certainly is a reason why the medical world has a name for this. If you have Halitosis, your dentist may send you to a medical doctor for treatment of this condition. Halitosis may exist because of bodily causes.

Ketones

Ketones are unpleasant smelling compounds that are excreted through urine, perspiration, and through exhaled breath as well. Ketones build up in blood to levels that result in halitosis if a person has diabetes, has been starving, or has inadequate carbohydrate intake.  These are very good reasons to find a solution for this if it is ongoing.

Banish Bad Breath By Lifestyle Changes

Usually having an unpleasant breath sometimes is not really a cause for concern. Your friends may disagree with me though. Using common sense daily in your life… flossing between your teeth after you eat; brushing your teeth, gums, and even your tongue… will keep those nasty germs and plaque build up to a minimum. So banish your bad breath and your friends won’t think about banishing you from their life or maybe saying you need bad breath treatment.

The Causes and Symptoms Of Bad Breath

The Causes and Symptoms Of Bad Breath

Bad Breath or Halitosis is the unpleasant odour typically caused by oral dryness, stress, hunger or certain items like garlic and onions or smoking and poor oral care.

Causes Of Bad breath

Bad breath may be due to a number of reasons such as bad dental hygiene, bacteria in mouth, infection, diabetes, drugs, gum disease, heavy metal accumulation, liver disease, smoking, sulfur, and tooth decay.

Bad breath is due to anaerobic bacteria that live within the surface of the tongue and throat, that produce smelly sulfur compounds when they come in contact with proteins, which cause bad breath.

Plaque on the tongue can cause bad breath where bacteria can grow. If you do not clean your mouth after consuming alcoholic drinks, tobacco chewing, cigarette smoking, and foods like onions, garlic, etc. it can contribute to bad breadth. A deficiency of vitamin B and/or zinc may also become the cause of your bad breath.

Symptoms of Bad Breath

White or Yellow Film on the tongue, Post Nasal Drainage, White Nodules on the Tonsils, Dry Mouth and Bitter, Sour or Metallic Tastes are some of the common symptoms.

1. One of the most common symptoms, the film forms due to nasal mucous and bacteria accumulation on the tongue especially the backside. Removing it is not the complete solution as these bacteria are found in the entire mouth and the saliva. Longer or larger taste buds (also called papillae) in some people traps more bacteria. People suffering from post nasal (mucous) drainage tend to have these films on the tongue.

2. Post Nasal Drainage causes due to sinus and allergies, where a thick mucous drains down the throat from sinus or nasal areas, that typically contains bacteria and proteins. These proteins break down into amino acids that foster the bacterial growth and the mucous also protect the bacteria from oxygen resulting in the bacteria causing halitosis. This causes the person to clear his throat often. Hydro Pulse sinus irrigator and Breathe-Ease XL saline powder help in reducing the drainage.

3. Tonsils secrete white smelly nodules that usually go unnoticed as they are swallowed, but are noticed only when they get dislodged. They may be of 1mm-4mm in size and can be noticed only when placed at the entrance of nostrils. Removing the tonsils themselves would not be solution in many cases.

4. Dry mouth or Xerostomia is one of the main causes of halitosis caused due to ageing, medications, insufficient fluid intake. Dry mouth causes concentration of bacteria in the saliva that readily evaporate resulting in stronger bad breath. It also causes the alteration of acid / base balance in the mouth fostering bacterial growth. Less saliva causes accumulation of more bacteria and cellular debris.

5. Bad tastes like bitter, sour or even metallic tastes in the mouth are caused due to drainage in the sinus, medications dry mouth, dental infections or oral bacteria. Dry mouth is the main cause of bad tastes. However, not all causes of bad tastes produce bad breath, so bad tastes as a symptom may be misleading at times.

Bleeding Gums Causes

Bleeding Gums Causes

Gums are pinky and spongy structures, essential to hold and protect teeth. They adhere to the teeth very closely for sealing to prevent entry or spreading of the infection inside, to the root of the teeth or jaw bone.

Brushing or flossing too vigorously – The rough mechanical action of brushing or flossing too vigorously may damage and irritate the sensitive oral tissues which may cause gums to bleed. If the bleeding continues for a few days then it is important to visit a dentist immediately.

This brings up an important point. Bleeding gums are not normal at all. Usually, if your gums bleed while brushing or flossing it is probably indicative of gum disease.

Gingivitis is primarily caused by toxin producing bacteria on the teeth due to a lack of proper oral hygiene. Trauma caused by vigorous flossing, brushing, dentures, tooth picking, mouth fresheners, whiteners as well as mouth ulcers may also be blamed for causing bleeding.

Nutritional deficiency’s and blood thinning and pain-killing medication are major role players in gum bleeds. Do not underestimate food or beverage heat or spiciness as some foods may possibly lead to severe irritation and bleeding.

Vitamin and mineral deficiencies as well as some medication in the form of blood thinner or pain-killers also have the possibility of causing bleeds. Steer clear from hot and spicy foods or beverages – they may cause severe irritation in turn leading to bleeding.

On an even more serious note, there has been evidence presented that there may be a link between gum disease and more severe health conditions. The bacteria can enter the blood stream from the gum tissue and this can have an impact on the body’s inflammatory response.

If your gums ache or bleed you should talk to your dentist right away because gum disease is progressive, and once it gets started, no amount of brushing and flossing will turn it around. In the initial stages, gingivitis, the plaque and tartar can be removed at your dentist’s office during a routine cleaning.

A Call to Action A good many people sit idle while gum disease takes hold of their lives. They may notice the inflammation of their gums or they may notice that they are beginning to choose their foods more carefully; however, they proceed as if poor dental health is an inevitable outcome, the natural byproduct of age and an active lifestyle.

Evidence has been gathering and suggests that gum disease sufferers are also more prone to other health problems in the body. Possible links to serious illnesses have been suspected for some time now. This may be due to the fact that bacteria enters the bloodstream from the infected gum tissue.

If a dental professional does not treat these red and swollen gums, the condition can deteriorate to periodontal disease, which can attack the gums and bone surrounding the teeth, eventually leading to tooth loss. The natural space between your teeth and gums become infected. Pockets can form and this is where bacteria thrive.
